GETTING STARTED WITH YOUR SCANMARKER AIR

We recommend charging the Scanmarker Air for 3 hours before using it for the first time.
Charge your Scanmarker Air using the included USB cable connected to your computer.

Scanmarker Air must be connected to a device computer or mobile with an internet connection for complete functionality.

Turning your scanner ON/OFF

To turn ON:

Press the clear tip to the surface for 3 seconds.The two lights are green and blue, will turn on.
*The green light indicates the battery. It will start flashing when it needs to be recharged. The green light flashes slowly while charging and turns solid when fully charged.
* Blue light is Bluetooth indication. The blue light flashes when the scanner is powered on and stays solid when connected to a device.

To turn OFF:
Click (quickly and gently) the tip onto the surface three (3) times
*Scanmarker Air will automatically power off after 12 minutes of inactivity (or 2 minutes in disconnected mode).
*Note: An internet connection is required if you always use Scanmarker Air.

*Note: To connect Scanmarker Air, you must install and open the software on your device(see instructions below).

CONNECT SCANMARKER AIR TO MAC AND WINDOWS  

INSTALLATION
1. Download the relevant software for your Mac or Windows device from our website at Scanmarker software download
2. Run the downloaded setup file according to your device and follow the installation instructions.

REGISTER
When you enter the application for the first time, you will need to sign up and create an
account.

After signing up with your email address and password, we will send you a confirmation
email. 

After confirming your email, you can sign in to the Scanmarker application using your
chosen email and password.

Signing in is only required the first time you use the application on a new device.

CONNECTING YOUR SCANMARKER AIR WITH A COMPUTER & LAPTOP ( Windows or macOS operative systems)

Follow these instructions to connect your computer or laptop to the Scanmarker Air device.
Make sure the Scanmarker Air device is powered on (two lights on), green and blue.
Please choose the connection type, Bluetooth or USB cable.

Once the connection is established, the blue light will flash and stay solid.
The initial connection with the Bluetooth dongle may take up to 1 minute.

*Windows users: Use the dongle provided with the package for a steady connection.
*Mac users: don't use dongles. Make sure your computer's Bluetooth is enabled.

Alternatively, you can use the included USB cable to connect to your computer either on
Mac or Windows operating system.

Sign Up Tour

When you connect your Scanmarker Air for the first time, you'll be presented with an online onboarding
tour. You will also be asked to select right and left-hand settings and languages. You can
always change these options later in the settings section of the application.

SCANNING OPTIONS
With Scanmarker Air, you can scan directly into the Scanmarker desktop application or
an external application or document editor of your choice.

Select the “pen” icon to scan to the desktop Scanmarker application for use
on your computer screen. With this option, you can see only one line of each scan or
translation. When selected, the icons will appear white.

Select the "Document" icon to scan directly into other types of editors, such
as Word, Evernote, PowerPoint, notepad, and any type of document that has a text editor..
When selected, the icons will appear white.

EXAMPLE OF SCANNING TO A WORD DOCUMENT

Select the "Document" icon  on the scanmarker app.

Open the Word document where you wish to scan.

Place the cursor in the Word document where you want the scanned text to appear.
Scanned or translated text is entered directly into the document when scanning printed
paper.

*When scanning to a document, the default setting adds a space after each scan and
continues the next scan on the same line.
*To place the next line of text scan on a new line, 1 click the tip of the scanner at the end
of the line of text in the scan.
*You can change these default settings by clicking Icon > Settings... > Scan > Input to
external programs.

You can minimize the floating Scanmarker desktop icon while scanning documents by
pressing the << arrow line next to the logo at the top. The icon will always stay on your
home desktop while using it.

Note for MAC OS: There are additional requirements on Mac OS (Mojave 10.14 and later
versions) to enable the accessibility of the Scanmarker app for this feature to work
There should be an auto-prompt requesting access when I click on the document icon for
the first time. If you don't see it please check for it behind the other apps open on your
system.

*You can also allow this by opening System Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Click the
Privacy tab -> Select Accessibility from the list -> Click the lock icon to make changes ->
check the box next to the scanmarker.

TYPE OF SCANNING

Text : Default settings for scanning standard lines of text. Scanmarker scans printed text from size 6 - 24pt into Scanmarker desktop app or any other program editing application on your computer (word, google Docs, ppt, notepad, Evernote etc)- just as if you had manually typed it using  your keyboard. *There should be a good contrast between the text and the background colour.

Single word: When scanning single words, place the scanner well in front of each word and end the scanning well after the end of the word.
Image: Use to scan handwritten signatures and small formulas. These can be inserted
alongside the text in the document. Images are not editable.

Numbers: When scanning numbers only and simple math symbols such as +, =, - , etc.

Barcode: When scanning barcodes, the scanner must be held unusually.
The scanner tip should be horizontal or slanted. You need to be oblique with Scanmarker Air .

Search for the "Scanmarker Air" app on the App Store or / Google Play and download it to your device.
*Ensure your mobile device has Bluetooth turned on

CONNECTING YOUR SCANMARKER AIR WITH YOUR MOBILE PHONE
● Turn on Scanmarker Air.
● Open the Scanmarker AIR on your mobile app.
● Select Start in the Scanmarker app to start searching for Scanmarker Air.
● Tap the name of your scanner when it appears below the Select Scanner message.
● You should see a message that the scanner has successfully connected.

*Troubleshooting Tip:
● If the blue light is on, but you are not connecting to your device, please check if you
are connecting to another previously paired device (such as a computer).
● Please close the Scanmarker application on the other device and try again

QUICK SETUP - Tutorial
When you launch the app for the first time, you will be presented with a quick setup
option. (You can always change these settings later by selecting the icon in the bottom
right corner of each screen)

MAIN SCREEN
● After completing the scanning practice, the main screen appears. After connecting
for the first time, this screen will always appear whenever you launch the app and
reconnect Scanmarker Air.

● A list of all saved documents will be displayed here.
● Tap the icon + (New on iPhone) to start a new document.
● Documents are saved as text files and can be shared. The options you see for
sharing are related to apps installed on your device. Tap Share in the document
options.

SCANNING TIPS
● Hold your scanner at a 30- 60 degree angle
● Place the transparent tip of the scanner slightly before the start of the line to be
scanned, and end the scanning motion after the end of the line.
● Make sure the text you want to scan is centered in the tip when you start scanning
(Scanmarker will keep following the first line it originally detected).
● Scans in a smooth and quick motion.
● Avoid applying excessive pressure whilst scanning.
● Practice scanning on the Test Device Screen until you are satisfied with the results.
● When scanning multiple lines of text, there is no need to wait for the first line to
appear on the screen before scanning the next line.
