To download the desktop software, you must first log in and register through our web-based software at app.scanmarker.com.

 

Overview: Web vs. Desktop Software

Understanding which platform to use is essential for your workflow:

• Web-Based Software: Best for full features, including translation, dictionary, and text-to-speech. Compatible only with Chrome and Edge browsers.

• Desktop Software: Required for scanning directly into external apps like Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.

  • Note: The translation function is not available anymore in the desktop software.

  • Compatibility: Works with Windows and macOS (not available on the Mac App Store).

How to Update or Download the Desktop Software

Follow these steps to ensure you are running the latest version of the Scanmarker desktop software:

. Access the Download Section

• Log in to the Scanmarker Web App at app.scanmarker.com

• Locate the Apps icon on the left sidebar.

• 

   

2. Installation Process

• Choose the link corresponding to your operating system (Windows or Mac) and click Install.

• Locate the downloaded file in your Downloads folder and launch it manually.

• Important: During installation, if prompted to install the Visual C++ package, select Yes to ensure the software runs correctly.

 

 

 

3. Connecting Your Device

• Once installed, open the ScanToExternal  which is the name of scanmarker shortcut on your desktop.

                             

• The icon will appear grey when your scanner is disconnected.

• When installed for the first time you will be prompted to signup/or login again

Connecting Your Device

• Open the ScanToExternal shortcut on your desktop. Ensure your pen is charged and turned on (the light in the scanning window should be ON if the pen is turned on and connected).

• Click Connect and choose your connection type; the icon will turn orange once the scanner is connected.

      

Troubleshooting Tips

• Software Not Opening: If the desktop app doesn't launch, check if your antivirus is blocking the installation of the Visual C++ package.

• No Translation: Remember to switch to the Web App if you need translation features.
