1. Introduction

 

Welcome to the ScanMarker Pal – your compact, portable solution for scanning, reading, and translating on the go. This standalone device is designed to streamline reading and information capture, making it easy and efficient. Dive into its features to elevate your reading experience, improve comprehension, and simplify the way you interact with text.

 

 

1.2 Turning On the Device

 

To power on your Scanmarker Pal, press and hold the power button on the side of the device until the LED screen lights up. The device will start up, and you’ll be ready to explore and use all its features.

2.1 Read 

 

“The Scanmarker PAL highlights each word as it reads. When the setting is on Sentence, it will automatically read the full sentence. When set to Word, it will read one word at a time as selected

 

OCR for printed text and digital text. You can scan paper and some screens

Language Support:

• English supports both USA and British reading styles offline and online more reading styles,

• Offline languages available: English  (USA/UK), Spanish (Spain), Italian, French, and German

• Online support connected to wifii: Online Language Support – 56 Languages

ScanMarker Pal allows you to effortlessly scan and read printed text. Simply slide the device over the text, and the integrated OCR technology will convert it into digital text, displayed on the device's screen.

You can scan printed text on paper and you an also scan a screen display text such as from a phone, tablet screen.

 

  The Settings icon in the Read screen allows you to:

• Select Reading Language: Choose from 5 offline languages and 56 online languages.

• Replace Function: Substitute selected text with new content.

• Append Function: Add additional text to existing content without altering the original.

• Reading Mode: Set text display to single-line or multi-line for easier reading.

 

Change speed of reading

 

You can adjust the reading speed at three levels: use the “+” button to increase the speed and the “–” button to reduce it.

2.3 Translate

You can reading can be multiple times the text scanned by using the speaker icon

Break language barriers with the translation feature. ScanMarker Pal can translate scanned text into multiple languages, allowing you to understand and learn content in your preferred language.

You can listen the original or the translate by pressing volume icon.

You can switch between 112 languages online to scan and translate.

2.4 Export

This function allows you to take notes and save scanned text, which can then be easily exported to a computer for further editing or printing. The exported content is saved as a .txt file, making it simple to store, share, and manage digitally. Additionally, you can rename files directly on the device, giving you greater organization and control over your saved content.

Please connect the pen reader with the computer usb port and the provided cable  and find the excerpt txt in the corresponding folder.

For Windows users:
1. Open File Explorer and locate the Scanmarker PAL under "Devices and Drives."
2. Click on the device to access its storage.
3. Open the "Internal Storage" folder to find the saved text files.

4. Identify the desired file to edit or export , make a copy and save it on your computer drive.

From here, you can copy, edit, or move the text files as needed, making it easy to manage and work with your scanned content on your computer.

 

 

 

For MacOs users:

 

For Mac users, the Android File Transfer software must be installed to access the Scanmarker Pal's files.

1. Connect the pen reader to your computer using the supplied USB cable.
2. Open Android File Transfer, then locate the specific file within the pen’s folder that you wish to export.
3. Copy the file to your chosen location on your computer.

Once copied, confirm that the content has successfully imported to the selected folder on your Mac.

How to Export and Save a .txt File on macOS

1. Download the installation file:
   Download Android File Transfer for Scanmarker 
2. Open the Mac’s Downloads folder and double-click the downloaded .zip file.
3. Open the extracted folder, then double-click AndroidFileTransfer.dmg.
4. Drag Android File Transfer into the Applications folder.

5. Open Applications, then launch Android File Transfer.

   If macOS blocks the application:

   • Control-click the application and select Open.
   • Select Open again.
   • If necessary, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and select Open Anyway.
6. On the Scanmarker PAL or Pro, save or export the scanned text as a .txt file.
7. Connect the Scanmarker to the Mac using the supplied USB cable.
8. If a USB connection option appears on the Scanmarker, select File Transfer.
9. Open Android File Transfer. The Scanmarker’s folders should appear automatically.
10. Locate the exported .txt file and drag it to the Mac’s Desktop, Documents, or another preferred folder.
11. Double-click the copied file to open it with TextEdit or another text application.
12. When finished, safely disconnect the Scanmarker from the Mac.

Important: Use the original supplied USB cable .

 

In the pen :To start a new file to export press the  icon. 

Scan as much text as you need it will be saved in the file .

2.5 Speak 

This function works with an online connection to the internet.
The translation function supports up to 112 languages.
Enjoy live translating conversation with the speak feature.

Select the languages for speak and translate in the configuration icon settings on the upper left side of the screen.

By pressing the microphone, you can translate spoken words and phrases.

3. Settings

3.1 General Settings

 

 

 

 

 

Customize your ScanMarker PAL experience with general settings. Adjust settings such as brightness, contrast, and scanning speed  reading voice and volume to match your preferences.

Also access bluetoooth , wiifi , updates, hand of scanning, speed ofreading , volume and operative system details.

 

 

 

 

 

The PAL can be connected with  BT enabled earphones.

The PAL device seamlessly connects with Bluetooth-enabled earphones, allowing users to listen to audio output directly without the need for cables. This feature enhances the user experience, especially for those who prefer hands-free operation or wish to maintain privacy in public or busy environments. The Bluetooth connection is quick and stable, ensuring clear audio for all functions, such as reading assistance, translation playback, and pronunciation guides. This makes the PAL ideal for users on the go,

 

in educational settings, or during travel.

 

 

 

 

**Currently Scanmarker PAL only supports 2.4 GHz WLAN/Wi-Fi Technology (802.11 b/g) uses the frequency band from 2401 to 2484 MHz

3.2  Device Language 

Configure language settings of the device and its operative system . Supported languages English, Spanish , German, French and Italian.

In general settings you also activate the online version of the pen to access multiple languages.

3.3 Multiline Settings

The multiline settings will display the scanned text in multiple lines in the translate function.The multiline function will delay the speaking speed compared as the settings for one line reading.
