Formatting and Line Breaks When Exporting Text Files with MAX/PAL or PRO models
When scanning and saving text directly onto your standalone Scanmarker device to export later, you may notice that individual line breaks, paragraphs, or custom editing are not preserved in the final .txt file. Instead, the scanned text often compiles into one continuous paragraph.
This happens because the offline text-file function is designed to capture continuous blocks of text rather than real-time document formatting.
If you need to separate your scans into distinct paragraphs or sections, please use one of the solutions below.
Solution 1: The Multi-File Workaround (For Standalone Scanning)
If you prefer to scan completely offline and export the files to your computer later, follow these steps to keep your sections organized:
Create separate files: Instead of scanning everything into a single file, create a new file on your Scanmarker device for each distinct paragraph or section.
Export to your computer: Connect your device to your computer via the USB cable (it will be recognized as an external drive) and transfer the files.
Compile your document: Open the individual text files and copy/paste them into your preferred text editor (like Word or Notepad) to easily compile your final document with the correct line breaks.
Solution 2: Real-Time Scanning via Bluetooth (Recommended Alternative)
If your workflow requires frequent line breaks, note-taking, or custom formatting as you read, a Bluetooth-enabled model like the Scanmarker Air or Scanmarker MAX will provide a much smoother experience.
How it works: These models connect dynamically to your computer, tablet, or smartphone via Bluetooth.
Direct Input: They act as a wireless keyboard, typing the text directly into any software you have open (Word, Google Docs, Notepad, etc.) for Air model with desktop app or to Scanmarker web based app .
Instant Formatting: You can simply press Enter on your computer's keyboard between scans to start a new paragraph instantly or click with the scanner for a new line (Air/Reader models).
