Get Started

Congratulations on choosing the Scanmarker Air for assistance while reading or language learning. This manual provides guidance on effectively utilizing the pen for text scanning and reading, along with instructions on leveraging its myriad functions and features.

Buttons & Connectors

Start Scanning Text & Reading Live

It is recommended to charge your scanner for 2 hours or until the green light stops blinking before first-time use.

1. Access Scanmarker software

ON Windows, Mac, Chromebook & Android mobile

Download ‘Scanmarker’ app from the App Store

2. Register you account by email and password

Create an account and verify your email address.

3. Log In

Log in to your new account.

4. Turning Your Scanner On & Off (Bluetooth Mode).

To turn on:
Click the tip down against a surface for three seconds until the lights turn on. The green light is the battery indication and will blink when charging is required. The blue light is the Bluetooth indication and turns steady when it has connected successfully.

To turn off:
Press the tip down 3 times. The scanner automatically turns off after 12 minutes of inactivity.

5. Connect Your Scanner

Bluetooth

• Turn on your Scanmarker Air.
  • A pop-up window will appear showing the available scanners.
  Click on your scanner name and
  then click 'Pair' to connect your
  scanner.
  • Plug in your scanner using the USB cable provided.
  • Select ‘Pen Scanner 2.0’ from the pop-up window that appears and click ‘Connect’.
  Or connect via USB cable –
  • Plug in your scanner using the
  USB cable provided.
  • Select ‘Pen Scanner 2.0’ from
  the pop-up window that appears
  and click ‘Connect’.

6. Settings

Choose your settings (right/left-handed,
scanning language) and watch the
app tutorial.

7. Start Scanning!

Main App Features:

Read Live:

Hear the text read aloud while scanning. 

Read Selected:

Listen to a selected text.

Translate:

Translate to another language: 140 available.

Export Text:

In order to save your scanned or translated text, you can export it as a PDF, Word file, JPEG or MP3 file.

Share Text:

Share scanned text, translation or both to email, Google Drive or Facebook.

Upload Text:

Upload texts from different doc formats: .doc, .pdf, .txt and .jpeg.

Scan Directly Into An External Application (For Windows & Mac Computers) Scan directly into an external application such as Word, Evernote, email or any place it has an editor. You will need to install a local application on your computer to use this feature.

Installation

• Click on the ‘Scan to External’ button inside the web app and follow the prompts to download the relevant file.
• Open the downloaded file and follow the installation instructions. 

After installation is complete, the Scanmarker icon will appear on your desktop.

Connect & Scan

• Open the Scanmarker application and press ‘Connect’ to pair your scanner.
• Place your cursor where you would like the scan to appear, and start scanning!

To change the scanning language and other settings, click on the settings button.

You can minimize here whilst scanning to document.

Select here for advanced settings - e.g. to change right/left - handed options, change read aloud speed, test your Scanmarker, help & support.

Scanning Tips

• Hold your scanner at a 30-60 degree angle.
• Place the clear tip of the scanner a little bit before the beginning of the line.
• Make sure the text is in the center of the tips when you start scanning.
• Scan in a fluid and quite quick motion.
• Avoid applying excessive pressure whilst scanning.

• For better results, we recommend using the ruler provided.
